Onto a Review - R1200RT
Friday 1st December, 2006It's service time and I've been kitted out with a loaner - the R1200RT "armchair" in Red is my temporary steed.
I tried for the K1200R and the R1200R but there was none available (perhaps a godsend - it's cold out there!) and thus I elected to choose "anything with a fairing".
What do I like about it? Well it's quite comfortable and has a good road presence; protection has meant that in 2-4 degrees, I don't need heated grips; with the luggage option installed, I could actually carry things (
).
What don't I like about it? I can't get to grips with the positioning of the gear change; somehow even though my arms are relaxed, they don't quite feel comfortable; the 1200 engine seems lighter and more "vibey" - also it does feel like it needs to be in the right gear to be sweeter.
And I can't filter very easily
Would I spend 25-odd grand on one? Nah, it's not for me. Except for about 6 weeks per year where it would prevent me freezing to death!! GIVE ME BACK MY ROCKSTER!!!!
